Dear First Payments Merchant,
As you may have seen in the national press from the 15th of October 2021 there will be a UK roll-out increasing the contactless spending limit from its current limit of £45 to £100.
As part of this roll-out, we will begin to make the necessary changes to your payment terminals as of the 18th October.
What you need to do
So we can ensure your payment device is updated, please keep your terminal(s) plugged in at all times so that we can successfully enable them to accept the new contactless payment limit via a remote update.
Please note that the contactless limit updates can take up to 28 days to become effective on your terminal.
If your terminal is switched off for any reason it should automatically update the next time it is switched on and connected.
If you have any problems, please don’t hesitate to contact our Technical Support Team who will be able to help you. They can be contacted by dialling 01276 605 690 Option 2.
What you need to know
Although this increase will make face to face card payments easier for both you and your customers, there are still some important factors to be aware of.
Your customers will still need to insert their card and put their PIN into the terminal from time to time, due to the card’s built-in security measures and you should continue to be vigilant about suspicious activity.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to email us on email@example.com or call us on 01276 605 690 Option 4 for the Customer Service Team who will be able to help you.
